On a need to grow basis...
Early blip today as action packed from now on in. I'm cooking dinner for 6/7ths of the family this evening. My daughter has requested her favourite:
'Agneau qui pleure' literal translation 'lamb that cries'.
Stab a shoulder of lamb repeatedly - until you have vented yourself of all your frustration.
Insert slithers of garlic and small sprigs of rosemary into the stab wounds. Rub with olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and a twist of black pepper.
Slice some roasting potatoes thinly or through a food processor's thicker slicer. Layer them into a large roasting tin.
Heat the oven to 200 deg C place lamb directly on an oven rack with the potatoes on the rack below. Cook for about an hour (turn oven down a notch or two after 20 mins), longer if you like your lamb well done.
The meat juices drip drown - hence the crying name - and the potatoes crisp up beautifully.
Serve with a selection of veg (Leeks in cheese sauce, carrots and buttered cabbage)
Enjoy the Bank Holiday, one and all.
Oh yes! The blip shows what the garlic has been doing in the store cupboard over the past few weeks!
Edit: Warning: Some of you have already commented and I should mention, be prepared to clean the oven after!!
