Synchronised Sipping...
Well Bank Holiday extravaganza part 1 is nearly over and we've had four days of glorious weather which is unheard of for Easter (although if I'm honest the Sunday and Monday were a little cooler but who cares?)
We had a short excursion to a well known DIY store and then returned Home with our Base requirements to enjoy the rest of the day in the garden.
I trimmed the soon to be removed Buddleia that is currently parked next to the back garage and which is hiding the Clematis, Hazel and Lavender. I also managed to cut half the, very long, grass before running out of those dreadful plastic blades you have to use (I used two packets of the wretched things). That'll teach me to cut the grass much earlier next time!
The wildlife was enjoying the garden today as well although we saw more of the avian varieties today and less of the aquatic species. Shortly after the first grass cutting stint we had a wonderfully exuberant Blackbird picking his way across the freshly cut sward in search of food and looking very dapper and smart he was too. We also had a female Mallard visit the pond. I recommend you look closely at a female Mallard next time you see one as they have wonderfully subtle colouring and are not the drab Brown you'd imagine them to be. Finally. while the Duck was entertaining us our local Goldfinches decided to join in at the end of the pond drinking in a synchronised fashion alternately drinking and resting both together and this is the picture that won the choice for today's Blip.
Hope everyone had a fantastic Easter and hope the weather holds for the next four day feast from Friday onwards!
PS - I really really must get the end of the pond turfed at some point... Looks dreadful :-(
