In Search of an Education
Grandad Says
When Grandad was a lad
he walked to school.
'Everyone did
in those days.'
Over cobbles.
Through cornfields.
Up a dusty track.
The long trek
in search of an education.
A hundred miles, he reckons.
There and back.
'And uphill.'
'Both ways.'
(He says).
when i was a lad
