Hayle Bar
I went in the hunt of a new location for a photo and rediscovered the old quay at Hayle. I used to mess about here as a teenager and had forgotten you can drive all the way to the dunes. It was late, a bit misty and the sun was dropping so its not a great shot but watch this space for more later.
The area is called Hayle Bar, its the inlet to Hayle harbour and can be treacherous at mid tide. The speed of the tidal run in the deep water can be more than smaller fishing boats can do and has caused countless disasters over the years.
Its also a designated Kite surfing zone now so I might try to get some shots of this in the future when the conditions are better.
The Dunes here used to be the location of a Dynamite factory, they used to build wooden sheds in the crevices between the dunes and if an accident occurred then the sand would shield the other units from the blast and prevent a cascade. Its all gone now apart from the name, the slipway near this is still called Dynamite Quay.
