Downtown Katoomba
Katoomba is the most visited town in the mountains, mainly because of the adjacent scenery and bushwalks.
During the first half of the 20th century it was a mecca for holiday makers and honeymooners, and was the place to be.
For whatever reason, and despite many initiatives, it seems impossible to recreate those heady days, and to me at least, it always looks tired and a little bit tawdry.
The scene above is at the rear of what was once a grand guesthouse,'The Cecil'.
