Sugarcane Masher
I think this is detail of a sugarcane masher but am not totally certain as the Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum in historic plantation town of Puunene was closed by the time we arrived. Sugar was Hawaii's largest agricultural export until the 1990's, when closure of several mills allowed pineapples to take the top spot. Sugar is still very important, especially on Maui where 37,000 acres of cane are cultivated and processed at the plant right across the road from the museum.
