Special Times

Day #2 of our Road Trip, California

Today we traveled from Northern CA to Central CA, 356 miles. The kids have been fantastic travellers, and the trip yesterday and today, quite flawless. We have discovered over the years, that a nice stop at a park in the middle of our day generally keeps everyone in good spirits and gets all the wiggles out.

We had the pleasure of spending a few hours last night with my sister and her family. The cousins all played together while the adults were able to share in some conversation...what a treat! It had been almost a year since we had all been together.

And another fantastic treat today...a 2 hour visit with my brother. He met us on his lunch hour at a local park. We shared lunch together while the kids ran and played (allowing for fantastic afternoon naps in the car!) I visited my brother in Nov 2010, but it had been almost two years since he had seen the kids and M. The beauty of it all...it is like no time has passed. That is the way it should be with family though, right?! And the funniest part...when Mr C went running up to Uncle J to meet him in the grass. As he ran right past him, Uncle J asked where he was going...Mr C replied, "to see Uncle J!" My brother then replied, " I am Uncle J!" Mr C promptly turned around and headed back towards him :)

All in all, a fantastic start to our trip.... We always have such a fantastic time spending time together on our road trips, but seeing other family and friends along the way really makes everything come together.

Oh, and did I mention we all went swimming this afternoon in the warm sun? And this is just day 2.... :)
