Old wooden postbox
We had a splendid day on our Jurassic Coastline in Charmouth and Lyme Regis (Dorset) looking for fossils on the beach. We found two ammonites, well I should say my brother found them and relentless made most of his success by reminding me of my poor haul all day!
We stopped in Lyme Regis town for fish and chips on the seafront, such a traditionally English past-time, and most enjoyable (although nothing beats the fish and chips at Hanbury's in Babbacombe). Upon walking back we came to an old working mill, micro brewery (brilliant) and a guest house with a wooden post box.
Interestingly, from 1799 to 1853 the buidling into which this wooden postbox is situated was the town post office, in what was formerly Horse Street. The wooden post box still in its original place in the wall is one of the oldest in England.
Homeward bound the little one fell fast asleep.
