"Farm to Fork"
Today was the "Farm to Fork" field trip with Landon's kindergarten class. We went to a local park where they teach the kids to be a farmer for the day. They each go to the bank to get a 'loan' to buy seeds for their crops. Then they purchased the seeds with their loan (seeds for onions, asparagus, tomato and corn). Once they got their seeds they planted them, harvested them and sold them to the market. Then they paid off their loan at the bank and spent their 'profit' for a treat. Landon's treat was a baggie of fruit snacks :)
I then took the children in my group to the Japanese gardens where they enjoyed the bridge overlooking the koi pond (shown in this blip photo), walking (and sometimes running) on the trails and looking at the pretty flowers. Then it was off to the playground for some playtime and lunchtime. In case that wasn't enough, we headed to the zoo afterwards. I took alot of pictures of the animals, my favorite being a picture of a yawning mountain lion. It was tough keeping the 5 year olds together as a group, but somehow I managed it!
