Street Cleaning?
Well with all that dry weather, blossom falling and other dust and refuse on the steets I witnessed the new form of street cleaning in Edinburgh.
Gone is the technique of brushing evreything into neat piles and gathering up; in fact brushes are not needed at all now.
What you get are two guys with what looks like space packs on their backs, blowing all the rubbish and dust into the middle of the road - a bit like those leaf blowers you see (that are also pretty useless!)
Problem is ... the stoor and noise they generate is unbelievable, and all that seemd to happen was they competed with each other, with half the stuff going back into the gutter where it came from!
Guy said a sweeper lorry would follow them to gather up the stuff on the road, which it did :-) about an hour later after the natural winds had returned much of the rubbuish to the corners it came from.
Ah well, the cars got a good shower of it all as you can see, and I managed to get a fair amount in my open velux window - thanks guys for cleaning the streets so efficiently; I'll hoover up the house now and get the car washed!
