It is RATTLESNAKE season!!!!

As I reported yesterday, they are out and about.

This sign is posted at the National Titan Missile Museum right off the main strip here in town. The museum sits in the middle of nowhere...desert land. So the placement of the sign is appropriate.

When the ground warms to above fifty degrees, that's when they start to stir. We've had a freakishly warm April. So with the daytime temperatures in the 80's and the lows in the 50's, it's the perfect combination to awaken these snarly critters.

If you find one in your yard, the protocol is to call the fire department. They come with their special gear and snatch it up. They then go and release it back into the desert.

The biggest one I've seen was about 8 feet long. It was at the rec center where I was monitoring at the pool. It took that fireman about thirty minutes to corral that fighter. That was one monster snake!
