The adventurer returns - Big Hugz
Mrs W couldn't wait another hour and drove to Heathrow to meet him and the group off the plane. He has been gone three weeks so I do understand.
He has grown! There is now a significant height difference between him and his (shorter) older brother.
Three weeks in the Himalayas has done him a power of good. It is noticeable immediately. He was never short of confidence but his manner, his conversation, the consideration he now gives before speaking is different - more mature. Maybe its just me - but I think he has grown up a lot.
He talks about altitudes of 5,264 metres, the Dalai Lama's palace, the children he taught, the devastation of the floods. We have only heard a few of the stories but it is clear that he and the group had a fantastic time.
His kit held up well. He is in love with his sleeping bag, the boots look decidedly well used and the camera returns with 400+ photos.
We will hear more over the next few days. Right now he has been travelling since 2am UK time, we fed him and I have just been upstairs to discover he has crashed out fully clothed at 11pm.
I'm sure it will wear off, but right now it's fantastic to have him back.
