Terns
Went over to Wilstone Reservoir today to brush up on my terns. Common Terns breed at Wilstone, while other species of tern pass through on their way to their own breeding grounds. Yesterday there were Common, Arctic and Black terns there and I was hoping for a repeat today and I wasn't disappointed - not only were all three species present again today, but I managed to capture all three in one photograph. Having taken 850+ shots, you're bound to get lucky eventually.
So seated we have left to right, two Arctic terns and two Common terns (The Arctic has shorter legs, shorter body, shorter bill and its black cap extends less down the back of the neck) and flying over them there's a Black tern and Mr Tufted Duck's just cruising past. Check out RCB for his version of the Black Tern.
So with fifteen minutes to spare that's me up to date with blip - yippee! Check out my last three days back-blips - sorry - again!
