Nights

This is my first night shift. Something about this picture seemed to make me think of sleep; even the fire hose sleeps it seems.

It has been quite a week. I graduated seven days ago, started my career with four days off, then began the real work on Tuesday morning. Somebody somewhere is helping things go swimmingly: I was picked for 1 Station downtown, put with what is surely the best crew in the Department, and been helped, supported, and taught since. My calls: chest pain, downed cables, false alarm at the zoo, car vs pedestrian, MVC, and two building alarms.

It's a living...
