My eldest daughter has started reading those popular stories about the boy wizard. I vaguely knew the names of some of the characters from their presence in the realms of popular culture, but I did have a giggle (probably years after everyone else, I know, behind the times...) at JK Rowling's undoubtedly Tom Waits-inspired Uncle Vernon. Got the girls singing about hogs on ice at bedtime though which is never a bad thing in my book.

My listening today though was exclusively in the 'S' part of the ipod. I had been listening to some of the harsher stuff before flicking to the artists immediately before them, a group that I find it impossible to listen to without a huge smile on my face. Pop music that is polished, silken and with a seductive sheen bar none. Sarah, Bob and Pete, I think I'll always have soft spot for you three.
