Lit a fire today, third one this season I think . There is definitely something about cleaning out the decayed and tired with the onset of the cooler weather. Burning the off cuts from renovation work at the moment, some of that timber has been a part of this house for over 100 years, it's hard, solid and beautiful. It burns hot. I felt guilty putting such timber in the fire, but then thought it is here to keep us warm for a moment. Somehow I imagine it has something to say.
