Sycamore Gap

Spoilt for choice for this entry as we spent the day at the Farne islands yesterday and got some great puffin shots but I think this just edges them. I stuck some of my puffin shots on my FlickR if you want a look.

This shot took some dedication. At 11 PM on Wednesday night, Stu and I packed our camera gear in the car and headed out down the Tyne Valley to Once Brewed. Took a 1 mile hike in total darkness up to Sycamore Gap.

Was pretty surprised to find that we weren't the only ones up there. There was another photographer there with a couple of cameras set up. We set up our gear and then let our camera go to work for a couple of hours whilst we stood around in the dark and freezing cold chatting, drinking tea and eating Haribo. Eventually got home around 3AM so I didn't get around to processing this until last night. This particular shot is a combination of around 100 30 second exposures stacked.

Not sure I'll be doing this again in a hurry. A bit too dedicated for my liking!
