I have a new toy
Treated myself to a macro lens. This was one of the first dozen shots I rolled off. I suppose I cheated a wee bit cos I used auto focus, but I need to spend some time familiarising myself with it before going for manual control.
Today was an interesting day. Work is less than fun at the moment, lots of stress and running around, but I was cheered up in the afternoon by a phonecall to confirm we have a provisional booking for the wedding venue we want. This is exceptionally good news after three weeks of wrangling with the venue management to make a couple of little exceptions for us. Now we just have to get someone to marry us!
To my horror I also discovered that we can't book a registrar any more than one year in advance (our wedding is 18 months away but we want things booked as soon as possible). I think this rule is quite unfair given that some venues are popular enough that you'd need to book 18-24 months beforehand. I'm reluctant to risk finalising the venue booking right now and maybe not being able to get a registrar, but equally I'm not willing to leave the venue hanging on for another 6 months until we can book the registrar. Arg! Anyway, I think the plan B is going to be a Humanist celebrant. Humanist weddings are completely legit in Scotland and more personalised, plus most importantly we should be able to arrange it right away :)
Oooo it's all starting to happen now!
