exciting annual event....

....of tying a branch up on the drainpipe under the hole in the facing between the house and the barn so that the baby birds that are tweeting (@drainpipenest) up in their nest won't try and learn to fly by launching themselves off the pipe directly onto the concrete below. Which happens to be our doorstep. The first year we lived here it was a bit grim :-/ but a branch does the trick. So, it's became a family tradition - a branch gets chosen to hang blown & painted easter eggs on each year, then, once we hear tweeting, we take down the decorations and hang the branch up for the birds. Annoys the dog a bit though, he's been standing underneath with his mouth open for days now ;-)
