Baroque

Today we went to Tsarsko Selo, just outside St Petersburg. It was the summer palace of the Tsars, about half a mile long and painted these candy colours. Inside is more gilt and mirrors than you can possibly imagine. One room is even decorated entirely in amber. You can see why there was a revolution. They needed to get in people with better taste, if nothing else.
