~born to catch~
As I shared on blip the other day, Will told me flat out that "I was born to catch" and today his destiny was fulfilled. We had a very busy day of baseball. Both boys had team pictures and both had games. Sam is now almost 9 and has moved on from t-ball to real baseball. They did great. I missed his hit as Will, Lily and I were still at Will's pictures. I was able to get there in time to see him play second base and then the very next time up to bat, he got hit. He has come such a long way in how he reacts. He got hit by the pitch in the wrist. It took him a second to get it together and then he slowly made it to first and once he did he was wiping tears from his eyes. He had a great time in the end and is really enjoying his team.
1 hour later we retuned for Will's first ever game. He has been waiting a long time and today was game day. He put his game face on and was in total concentration. He was able to play catcher. I think he hit off the tee once and hit a pitch from the coach once. He even slid into home (which I missed because I was getting Lily out of the stroller-darn it!) To me the funniest thing was how serious he was. He had a job to do and he did it! When Sam was that age he was more the, talk to the kid next to you or pick a daisy type. It is so fun to see how different they can be.
Fellow blipper friend was there as our boys played on opposite teams. Yes, J. I took 258 photos.
Also a wonderful surprise was how well Lily did. She was a champ and loved it. 2 games and not a tear. Which is great news, because she has a lot of these days in her future.
Here is Will getting suited up for the first time in the catchers gear. A moment I will always want to remember. Grandpa, Grandma and Sam all had to assist. It is going to be a fun season.
