Archbish
Today has been eventful. First just after having a bath, we heard our neighbour screaming our names over the garden fence. Her 79 year old husband, J., had collapsed in the garden; when we got there he was unresponsive, with rattling breath and drooling, but breathing with a pulse. This is a man who had a meningioma removed six months ago, entirely successfully. We waited till he was safely packed off in an ambulance with his wife. By the time the ambulance departed, he was recovered enough to be able to roll his eyes as I asked if he had his house keys, his wife being unable to find hers. Poor old guy, he's been in the wars, as they say. The absolutely amazing part of this story is that it was the neighbour's dog that alerted everyone to his collapse; and not by sight either - there's a 6 foot fence between them. The dog wouldn't stop barking, unusually, and alerted his owners, who spotted through the window J. collapsed in the garden. How do dogs do this??? I find it mystifying.
We walked to Harborne High Street for breakfast (although by this time, lunch), and came across 'The Other Royal Wedding' - a group of figures standing in a rather sinister manner in the already atmospheric Moorpool estate. I think this likeness of Rowan Williams is quite uncanny - but also present were Harry, Beatrice, Her Maj, a bystander and of course the couple themselves.
Our neighbour hasn't returned yet; we hope he's ok. A seizure, we think. Just hope it's not a sign of things to come for him.
