Smiling.... for now !

dog back at vets AGAIN his stitches have come open a 2nd time. booked him in for the afternoon and Lee's Mum and Dad came and watched Harvey for me while i took him. They have decided not to put through surgery again and instead gave us some cream to put onto the open wound which will help to heal it. We spent the afternoon playing at home and then i started getting braxton hics again at around 17.00hrs i thought nothing of it because i had been having them for days/weeks. I started to make the tea and then by the time i had eaten it and it was 18.20 the pains where getting stronger but i still didnt think anything would come of it. I rang Lee but he was already on his way home and arrived 10 mins later. We got Harvey in the bath and by this time 19.00 ish the pains were getting very strong so i knew this was it. Lee got Harvey into bed and i rang the hospital. I hadn't really had time to count anything and they asked me how far apart so i guessed at 7 mins and 30 secs long. She said not to come in yet and to wait until 5 mins apart and 1 min long. As soon as i put the phone down they got stronger and where 1 min long and 5 mins apart so 10 mins later i was telling Lee to phone them back. He phoned his parents to come over to watch Harvey and Lee went and got some petrol (very organised Lee) as soon as he drove back down the street i ran out the door and told him to go. I had my tens machine on at this point but as things where happening so quickly it was rather useless!

Lee had to skip some red lights on the way and drive rather fast as we didnt think we were going to make it!!!! We got to hospital at around 21.30 and they showed us to our delivery suite. My midwife was called Sue and remembered me from last time with Harvey, she said she came in after he was born to do the clean up. I remembered her and it was nice to think that it was someone familiar. She examined me and told me i was 4-5 cm which i was very pleased about. I had some gas and air and ditched the tens which was just getting on my nerves. I knew i had to make a decision fairly soon about other pain relief before that decision was taken away as things were going so fast so i had half a dose of Diamorphine and was 7cm by this point. Worked wonders and i was of the planet within 20 mins.... ahhhhh ! Lee said i was staring at him and freaking him out in my drug induced state lol...

I was ready to push and fully diallated by midnight and was only pushing for 10 mins (leaning over the top of the bed head) she was born at 00.21 and the relief of her being born was amazing. Daddy cut the cord, she didnt cry and came so quickly that she was a bit blue and in shock so they gave her some oxygen to wake her up abit. I needed stitches (bad times) so they did that and I gave her a breastfeed and Lee had some snuggles. To be continued.......
