Never Go in the Thin Bit!
Late dog walk this evening just as the sun was setting.
There was a pair of Red Kites soaring in the very strong wind, but they were too far away to get a good shot, so I settled for sheep.
This as usual is straight from the camera, I love the red glow.
In contrast we were heading home south on the M1 this evening, my brother driving. There are extensive roadworks and the carriageway splits with two lanes to the left of the central reservation and a one lane contraflow to the right.
My family have a rule: Never go in the thin bit, because if there is a problem you'll be stuck with no escape.
My brother was oblivious to this simple rule and inspite of my warning and explanation he did.
One mile into the contraflow the traffic ground to a halt.
We could have been there until Spring 2013
Fortunately we had sandwiches and drink
In fact we were stuck for a mere than 30 minutes.
There had been a 3 car shunt.
The traffic in the 2 lanes to our left continued freely throughout.
It is sound advice indeed. Never go in the thin bit.
