Opuntia engelmannii

In 27 years in AZ, I've never seen these colours on the same prickly pear at the same time - usually they morph from yellow to orange (I think!) and that is that - no sort of in between time, so it was quite interesting to see these blooms on one plant.

Now if only some one can tell me what the phenomenon is when the stamens wave about without aid of the wind ... it is a VERY ODD thing to observe.
