Two sides of the street

The ultra-tourist heart of Vancouver is Gastown with it's real ale bars, restaurants and a steam clock which is not that accurate but lots of people take pictures of it. Gastown is on the edge of the downtown east side and only a block away is the most desperate corner in any city and it encroaches into the glass and brick splendour. This shop sells really expensive but exquisite furniture and across the road is a housing co op with residents who just can't even begin to afford the chair in the window across the street. It certainly is a city of contrasts.
