Seapoint seafront

Phew!

Up at 7.30 to do a bit more work before going over to Carl's place to watch the Hollyoaks omnibus -- don't scoff, now, but it was emotional, heart-wrenching stuff, what with favourite character and long-standing cast member O.B. finally making his mind off and leaving for the bright lights of London. That must have spurred on what followed, because from there we went straight to Carl's Kin, where E.T. was showing. Goodness, but it's still a great movie, even after 25 years. This was the 20th Anniversary DVD edition, and I got the feeling that some parts were either different or better than in the original cinema release. Wonderful stuff.

Our next choice wasn't anywhere near as good -- The Bourne Ultimatum. Other blippers have already mentioned the director's over-indulgence when it comes to trendy hand-held camera usage, and they're all totally right. Apart from that, though, the whole thing left us both exhausted and flat. It's really just one frenetic chase after another, with the occasional let's-get-serious-or-soppy scene interspersed for a change of pace. A huge disappointment as far as we were concerned.

By this stage it was 5.00 pm and I was feeling guilty. A quick stop at Seapoint just before the rain came was all I had time for on the way home in terms of blipping for the day (well, I did take some screenshots at Carl's Kino, but I've done that so often before that you don't want to see it again, I'm sure). Back home it was time to catch up with what others had done on the project management system for the dreaded job that's going on and on and on. I have to admit that I took a rest for a few hours after making some proof-reading corrections, only got back to work at 10.00 pm, and only finished at 5.00 am. Bu that's it now: the client has page proofs for everything, and it's just a matter of waiting for sign-off so that I can generate high-res PDFs, out everything together on disc and pass it all on to the printer.

I am not at all sorry to see the back of this wretched job. I thought things were bad enough with the Christmas issue of this magazine, but this issue has been a total nightmare.
