Street Band
We went to downtown Jacksonville this evening for the Jeff Beck concert at the Florida Theatre. The first Wednesday of every month is Art Walk and people gravitate to the downtown area -- just once a month mind you -- to look at art on display and listen to bands playing on the streets.
I took this shot outside the Chew restaurant on W Adams Street, while waiting for our order to arrive. After the meal, I went out for another cigarette and the band was taking a break. I asked the guitarist whether he shouldn't have been at the Jeff Beck concert. That broke the ice and we chatted for ten minutes or so about great guitarists of the last 30 years.
So while it may not be a picture of Jeff Beck, it does capture a guitarist playin ghis licks.
The Ricoh high contrast b&w mode was called into play yet again.
Jeff Beck was simply stunning -- one of the best concerts I have ever attended and the Florida Theatre was packed. Beck was greeted with incredible enthusiasm by the largely American audience and he made me feel proud to be British.
Beck is an incredible guitarist and gave full value with four encores.
I waited outside the stage entrance after the show hoping for a glimpse of Beck. Alas the wait was in vain but I did meet two English guys and enjoyed their conversation mostly about Beck and football. Well Stoke City have reached the FA Cup Final. :-)
It was the perfect end to a great night of entertainment.
