Autumn 14: morning light

On my way to work I cycle past the marina at Oriental Parade, Wellington. I took this photo this morning - boats in the foreground, Wellington harbour beyond, and the Tararua ranges beyond.

The morning light was beautifully soft. It etched the contours of the ridges and spurs that fall from the southern wall of the Tararuas. In winter the forests and tops of these mountains are covered in snow.
