Lethal pilosity
I am trying to convince my workmate Cedric to trim down his beard.
I fear for his safety.
The public wearing of an excessively long beard is a very risky activity these days.
This analysis is based on the extensive study of two (2) cases currently in the public eye.
- One was arrested on 3 April 2011 and it is not known if he is still alive
- The other was (allegedly) gunned down on Pakistani soil last week
- One was a controversial artist
- The other a religious fanatic who orchestrated the deaths of thousands of innocent people
- One tried to make a change with his art
- The other did traumatise tens of thousands of relatives and friends of the victims, and prompted a whole nation to vote for "security"
- One was the victim of institutionalised breach of human rights
- The other was executed by a great champion of democratic values (whatever these are)
They had two things in common though:
- a very long beard
- the absence of a sentence pronounced in a court of law
Edit 8.45pm. I have never been so glad to lose 3 subscribers in one day. I feel a lot lighter.
