No one's home

Today I did a route check with the local organiser of Get Walking, Keep Walking, of the route I described a couple of weeks ago. Time was significant this time, so there was no chance to hang around for photos. This was the spot where I watched a Great Spotted Woodpecker last time, but even though my companion had a quick chat with some acquaintances nearby, the woodpeckers did not oblige. I did a stakeout in the garden later, and saw swifts high above, but couldn't get a shot, and although a robin, a coal tit, and a house sparrow put in an appearance at the feeder, this "no show" was the best shot of the day. Rain forecast for the weekend. I'm hoping to get a bit of work done in the garden.
