Farmers Market on 97th Street

This morning I was delighted to see this weekly street market on West 97th St. between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues, just down from our apartment. It reminded me of the markets we've gone to in Paris--though they are generally much more crowded (I don't have a direct blip from there, but here's one nearby).

I learned that this market has been there every Friday in the summer for "many years." We have been only sporadically in that location until we repossessed the apartment last summer (and we evidently missed it then).

I lived on the next block on 97th St. (between Amsterdam and Broadway) from 1965 to 1969 while attending graduate school at Colombia University. Back then the street was considerably wider in the other block--at some point in the interim the sidewalk was widened, which made room for the market.
