Yellow window
Hallo everyone! This is a backblip of a short time in Kinsale, Co Cork, Eire. N and I flew over yesterday from Bristol with friends who spent their honeymoon here 40 years ago and their family paid for a return visit. N was their bestman. A lovely relaxing place on the water and great in the summer for those who sail. We enjoyed looking round the town and eating, drinking and talking! Kinsale is well known for its food too!
The town was founded by the Anglo-Normans in the 12th century and in 1666 it was described as one of the most important ports in Europe trading in wine and salt. The famous Battle of Kinsale was fought in 1601 by the Irish together with 3,000 Spanish troops led by O'Donnell and O'Neill against the English who won.
I am not going to produce a travelogue but amongst the brightly painted houses dotted around the town this window caught my eye.
