Birthday Cakes

A slightly less full on day than yesterday (mum had heart attack, out at night to see Laura Cantrell), we had Hope's birthday and party today. She made cupcakes and she and her sister decorated them for her friends. We then had a surprisingly good party expedition with the lovely Mari, Catriona, Louise and Josie to the Build A Bear Workshop. I guess we (the Guardian reading parents) had low expectations, but thanks to Gail the party host, the girls all had a super time. Walked down, had ice creams in Princes Street gardens after, then home for cake in a taxi as the rain came down. One advantage of mum being unwell yesterday was that uncle Ian had arrived from London and he joined us, which was good for us all.

We have a contented little 8 year old. Where has the time gone?
