Tour be or not tour be?

I wanted to say that today I had a lovely time visiting the House of Dun and met up with a fellow Blipper, however it was not to be.

After the heavy shower this morning we set of for the House of Dun.

On the way to the House of Dun, we got a cheery wave from O charmed one as she drove passed us in the opposite direction!

It wasn't an organised meet, but as she works there I thought there'd be a pretty good chance of catching up with her.

Oh well, we'ed come this far, so we had our picnic in the grounds and thought we go for a wander around the house afterwards.

The picnic was idyllic, a lovely secluded woodland area, warm sunshine and the place to ourselves.

But when we tried to have our 'wander around the house', the fat controller guide said that we couldn't go into the house without joining a tour party.

I tried to explain that we'd been there before, done that and got the souvenir and that this time we just wanted a look around on our own.

Not to be. Apparently you can do that on a Sunday, but not on any other day of the week??

mumbling and cursing her under my breath, we left to have a walk around the gardens. No sooner had we started our walk and the rain started again.

Grrr.
