Jay's Wildscapes

By jay

I know we are looking. But are we really seeing?

Acres of press remind us of the march of spring. The first Daffodil, the first frogspawn, peacock butterfly or bumble bee flight. And whilst it's all very well being inspired by these landmarks of life let's not ignore the tiny everyday changes that manifest the real spring.

The imminent arrival of migrant birds, the new warm smell of a woodland after a shower of April rain, the tiny yellow stars of the celandine flower and the purpling of the Silver Birch buds long before they are ready to burst free. Pay homage to your first earwig sighting, your first nettle sting of the season and the cockiness of the robins whose passions are stirring.

If we learn more about our nature we will see more. And as we see more our connection with our mother earth will deepen.
