Passion

Yesterday I noticed that our first Passion Flower had bloomed and decided this would be my blip for Sunday. When I woke this morning we had a lot of rain and it looked a bit forlorn but once it had dried out a bit it was OK. So here it is a bit bedraggled but holding its head high waiting for the sun
Legend has it that in 1620 a Priest in Peru came upon a flower, and that night he had a vision likening its floral parts to The Passion of Christ
The 5 Petals and 5 Sepals became the 10 Apostles (omitting Peter and Judas)
The 3 Pistils became the nails in the Cross
The purple Corona became The Crown of Thorns
And the stemmed Ovary was The Lords goblet
