Large red
Last year I worked on a dragonfly survey on a different part of the reserve. Went back there this afternoon to see how they were doing. Lots of broad-bodied chasers engaged in aerial combat and much too fast to photograph. Didn't see any other dragonflies but there were a few pairs of large red damselflies. Large of course only distingushes them from the 'small' red damselfly, even the 'large' ones are only about 3cm long. This is a male looking rather fierce. As yesterday, there were quite a lot of a reptiles around. I counted five grass snakes and a slow worm as well as a few common lizards. I think warm sunshine following rain brings them out.
