Charity Walk

Had an early rise and drove through to South Queensferry for a charity walk today. A friend's nephew has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. He is only 8 years old. After a year of treatment, he is now having daily chemotherapy to try to shrink his tumour and prolong his short life. It's terribly sad. Although there is nothing more that can be done, a fundraising campaign was started to try to raise enough money to send him to Disneyland as a special treat. Unfortunately, he is now too ill to travel, but the family will use the money to go to Disneyland Paris, and the remainder will be donated to a charitable organisation who specialises in this sort of thing.

For our part, a group of mummies and babies walked over the Forth Road Bridge and back again. It's not that far, but it was hillier than I imagined and much colder and windier than I had prepared for! And yet we still managed to get a touch of sunburn! H would have happily walked, but my heart was in my mouth when I saw the gaps in the railings, so she spent most of the walk in her pushchair.

Thanks to all who sponsored us - H and I raised £120 so we were extremely delighted to have done our bit.
