Mom to 4

This was blipped by one of my four daughters this noon, before we stepped out to Mother's Day Brunch at a neighborhood Turkish restaurant. This is me in the kitchen, admiring the pot of orchids, a gift from the daughters who are here in Norfolk with us...

Happy Mother's Day to all you hardworking moms out there, and just about anyone who has charge of nurturing others. We wear this tiara with rhinestone lettering spelling out Mom, or Mum, or Mother... mostly I wear it askew, or wobbly. It's a 24/7 job 365 days of the year, and some days, well, you know how some days are full of crazy challenges... I know mine are! Sometimes I want to scream, or rend my hair, or wring my hands; and I wonder how moms with clearly more than I have to handle, manage to do it all. How do you do it? Hats off to all of you!

But most of the time, even when I'm worrying like it will soon go out of style, I know that I'm fit to bust with love. I have nothing but gratefulness to the universe for bringing me my four lovely and talented daughters-- Jennifer, Julia, Ina, and Gabriela-- I wouldn't trade them for the world.
