Shoreside Factory

This factory down at the South Beach was once the pride and joy of Arklow. Many years ago it was the home of Arklow Pottery and produced table and kitchen ware which was exported all over the world. When the pottery closed down it was taken over by a local business which was fast expanding in the manufacture of toilet pans and other stuff for the bathroom. Said firm became so successful that they took over the famous company of Armitage Shanks and then having no more room to expand at the seaside, built an entirely new factory a couple of miles out of town, where they happily trade to this day.

This is the old seaside factory, gradually crumbling into dust. The day was a mixture of bright sunshine and brooding dark cloud with thunderstorm written all over it but I have gone the whole hog and made it even more dramatic. Perhaps its just the way I feel today.
