Smoketree (Slight Return)
It isn't long since my cotinus (Royal Purple)(Cotinus coggygria) came into leaf and already it is beginning to flower.
It has become taller this year and from the ground I can only see the duller undersides of the leaves and the flowers are hidden. Luckily, as it is now again visible from my study (thanks to the tree hacking I recently had to undertake), I hatched the cunning ruse of opening a window and photographing it with my long lens.
