Amazing Fungi

I really was amazed when I saw this for several reasons. It has been so dry lately and yet this looked healthy, completely filled the split tree chunk, andI've walked past this spot numerous times without noticing it! I've not yet managed to find out what it's called, but it looks nothing like the fungi I've found so far.

My discovery came from a much needed walk after work. I had an afternoon being spoken to by our chief executive regarding the forthcoming changes/redundancies. I bet they already know the business model they are going to use, so they were probably asking for our vision to see if we would fit in the new service. At least I know that I've got a job until March..........pending no further changes!
