They're not playgrounds!

But they were. When I was a kid, building sites were everywhere. They were where we were told not to go but did. We grew up playing on building sites, they were great fun.

Nowadays they're all fenced in and reasonably neat and tidy. Kids can't get near them.

When I started out working as a young man on building sites there were many accidents and deaths. The figures for accidents and deaths were really appalling. Health and safety improvements have completely changed the industry. I get annoyed when I hear people mocking Health and Safety.

In my Industry more people go home at night after their days work because of these changes.
