a pessimist is never disappointed...

i had thought today would be stressful and a bit awkward. i had hoped for, at best, moderately stressful with calm bits and tentatively ok. i got calm, good, and unexpectedly excellent.

i often semi-joke that a pessimist is never disappointed - what people forget is that this pessimist can be pleasantly surprised a lot more than an optimist who thought good things would come! more days like this would be just fine and dandy.

as the godlike genius of paul hewson would have it some days are better than others
