Blue Jay's eat peanuts?

I had no idea that a Blue Jay would eat peanuts, but here is the proof. I had placed some peanuts in the bird bath/feeder to attract the squirrels and this blue jay helped himself. After he grabbed a peanut, he would fly into the trees where I could hear him tapping the peanut with his beak in order to open it. It was quite funny! And unbelievable!
