The way I see it.

Nobody lives here!

Every time I have passed this old house I have composed a blip in my mind but it is an awkward turn-off the main road and so I have always kept driving. Until today! I pulled off the A9 into a tiny parking space and jumped over the padlocked gate hoping nobody was watching me.

There is a most attractive tree lined driveway the surface of which has almost completely overgrownr with grass. The long grass on either side was studded with bluebells and other wild flowers. When I reached the house I disturbed many birds that had taken up residence. It was in an even worse state of repair than anticipated from the roadside view and there were sapling trees growing in the upper story visible through the old window opening.

Despite all the decay and disrepair there was a beautiful, quiet magical feel to the place as if many families from times gone by had spent happy times here. The grass up to the main door was full of stinging nettles so I decided not to venture for a peep inside. This must have been a farm house and round the back there were the ruins of several cottages and outbuildings.

Not sure exactly what it is about old buildings that I find so intriguing but this one certainly transported me back to a different time. I wonder if it will ever have life breathed back into it?
