Anosi Dancers

Bush Party no 2. A farewell bash for the short-termers, at our camp in Mahatalaky. The musicians and dancers came from St Luce for the night. The locals came along, and the kids piled the bonfire high with twiggy branches that would burn fast and hot. Other than the bonfire, torches were the only source of light.

These girls danced in their bare feet, near the heat of the fire, on a warm night, for hours. They do a short of high speed dirt kicking on the spot which leads them to barely touch the ground; meanwhile their hips and hands are going too.
