Big Splash
Upon cycling back from Brixton Cycles, this huge mural stopped me in my tracks. How glorious! It's called 'Brixton Splash' and was funded by Lambeth council and painted by Brixton artists after the riots in 1981. 'Bg Splash' tells the story of the River Effra, which runs hidden under the area, and the women who worked in the Doulton factory in Lambeth. Many local residents are depicted in the scene.
The remainder of the day was taken up by packing and trying to plump on a place to go tomorrow for a week. The west of Scotland was the original plan, but the very rainy weather coming in has put us off. We courted the Scilly Isles, Brittany, Normandy, Jersey, the Coast to Coast across northern England, but in the end we're going to Denmark. Hooray! The bicycles are now geared up and ready to go.
See you in a week or so!
