Jacky's Journey

..or even 'Wonderful Libya....'

Every family has one. The in joke that reduces them to fits of giggles but leaves anyone else wondering what the gag is.
In our family it was a film (a 'B' filler from the 70's) called 'Wonderful Libya'. It was really a 20 minute advert for Libya and how marvellous it would be to come and visit it. It was awful. Even as kids we realised this was a bad sales pitch. Thereafter, we talked about 'wonderful libya' as the epitome of the terrible adverting disguised as a feature film. These were the days of course when you got the big film, some adverts and the 'b' film in your cinema programme.
Anyway, this blip is of a poster or a reproduction poster from the 1930's showing an image of Palestine, (or whatever you choose to call it) that is hanging up in an office near ours. It shows a rather beautiful, slightly mysterious place that looks quite appealling, and the colours are lovely.
I suspect that shot couldn't be taken nowadays. And few people would see it as a holiday destination too. Just like 'wonderful libya....'
